My first reaction to this was to say something that made me laugh but this isn’t the good audience for it. But I laughing to myself

arguably a better outcome than the one where the plague doctor has their ability in the mafia game

im not gonna go down another one of these source rabbit holes, but the more and more i read about quantum computers, the more and more specialized and narrowly defined they’re becoming. it’s like cryptography and very specific kinds of problems in science, but a lot of the other things hyped about it i think have since been found to not be practical in any near future.

yea probs

Hidden…?
It was literally written in the poll.

Okay I did find a source: Disentangling Hype from Practicality: On Realistically Achieving Quantum Advantage – Communications of the ACM

Apparently there are current problems where the crossover time is months i.e. a problem needs to already been taking months to solve in order for a quantum computer to be faster at solving it. It’s apparently also worse with big data which is kinda funny lol. the differences here are also making assumptions about single chips for a classical computer that can be built today and an extremely optimistic quantum computer that currently does not exist.

Do… Do I have to make a game where people can play the game without reading, period?

…wait, isn’t that just my testament?

Hey wait my problems are looking like they’ll take months- oh, they explicitly mention chemistry

“botf will stop because they die” does not equal “player summoned botf”

That is because player did not summon BotF.
Player’s death causes BotF to stop.

How is this not understandable?

so yeah okay useful for very domain specific problems. still has cool potential when it comes up.

the funny thing about cryptography is that it’s just going to make the lives of IT professionals hell for a few years because it’ll invalidate most forms of encryption that aren’t designed to be quantum-resistant (and quantum-resistant algorithms do already exist).

I’m on 10 days of computing time for a rather small molecule so far and it’s not looking good

anchoring botf to a player is assumed to be because their role allows it to exist

I literally stated this. Game starts with both BotF and FM, except:
