the creator is transphobic, and he wrote the script. it would make zero logical sense for it to be pandering or sympathetic to transgender people, given how crude he is towards transgender people.

which was notably glossed over

and no saying you’re 30% female does not give you enough credit to say shit like “oh i think trans women can’t be natural women and that must just be where JK Rowling is coming from and it’s terrible how those mean tra- i mean beautiful brave little third-sexed beings treated her”

Alternatively, Esther’s dealing with an entire shift in world view. Cara facing a similar thing - a worldview pushed upon her by society - could be a cultural thing? Like, this is my own experience bleeding in, but something like “people in this family are expected to be extremely successful academically, but Cara doesn’t, and her parents are starting to give up on her, which makes her feel that she no longer has a place in the world”?
You probably have a much, much better idea of Cara than I do.

listen i get it. it’s liberatory for so many people, including other trans people, including other transfems! but for me, speaking as a british trans woman who is facing down the barrel of transphobia that counts Rocky Horror in its’ lineage, i cannot and will never support that stupid fucking story

You know with the amount of light novels I read I’ve never once seen people use magic to switch genders? Sex? Whatever it is and only ever seen it used for comedic effect

people have hated trans women before trans women truly existed as an idea

The reason I brought this up is because I just saw a passage in a LN talking about how if they really wanted to come to a women only event they could make them become a girl and it got me thinking “wow, if magic like that existed then a lot of trans issues got solved” and I’ve never seen an author use it that way at ALL
