anyway marissa is the only transfem who thinks that emilia perez is a good movie,

Well. Arguably not entirely, I was handed a drink with 6 shots in it. But I drank it quite slowly because I had just made myself sick eating oreos

Sufficiently so that I felt nothing. I do not think it had any impact on my measure theory decisions

i honestly really dont tend to like Movies About Transgender. Cis writers, trans writers, Cis Actors, Trans actors, none of them really do it for me because, especially now, it feels like a bit of a storytelling crutch.

this isnt my qualm with I saw the TV glow, my biggest thing is that it lost the a24 coin flip for “Will this be the best and most memorable ending ever or will it fall flat in trying to be that” and I felt like none of it got tied together.

Still worth a watch for the rest of it but looking back i think im unsatisfied

yeah i mean that is fair. we have to Live Our Lives, not all of us are going to get something special from seeing these experiences on the silver screen, y’know?

the problem with packaging the Trans Experience into movies as a format specifically is that it’s very hard to convincingly make an ending, because being trans is so much about the progress and it’s hard to come up with a convincingly happy ending, only endings in dreary tragedy

my favorite Movie About Transgender is probably breakfast on pluto, which decidedly does not “do everything right” w/r/t rep. i just liked the movie anyways outside of the whole trans thing, and thought the ending was properly touching/sad/optimisitic in a Trans way

i think novels fit the trans experience storytelling-wise much more than movies but that doesn’t mean there can’t be good Trans Movies. having said that.

i cannot get over that in the same year as TV Glow and the People’s Joker, two films which, even with their flaws, are much more obviously authentic Transfem Films, what if instead the world’s worst musical about a transfem cartel kingpin written by the most insanely bigoted people you’ve ever seen was the Trans Film of the year?

i wanna eat food but i don’t quite feel like moving

some people would use a teleporter to like be the world’s fastest courier i’d just use it to go somewhere i can walk within a few minutes

okay okay the people’s joker was made in 2022 and only got fully released in 2024 on account of copyright issues but it still Counts

i should probably do the healthy people thing
this sucks

i like how people talk about The Teleporter (typically, all the atoms are unformed and then reformed somewhere else) but like. I feel like first and foremost itd be the “Cloning Machine” if you can just copy all of that stuff and paste it elsewhere

I would love a clone. I could hunt her down and kill her, or be hunted down and killed.

marshal you must understand my daydream about not having to get out of bed and walk did not account for the scientific functions a teleporter would realistically have
