Blackjack Misc (7/7) - Round 5

uhhh anyway time to load my pc so i can consult the deck and hit for ybw

Wdym? What risk is there?

You lose your side bet unless you make money off of it.
Lowering the possibilities that you win increases your risk of losing your bet.

You draw a 10 of Diamonds. Total: hard 14
Hit or stand?

Okay, what’s stopping me from betting the minimum on SToaK for Top 3, 21+3, and Player Pair? In a world where I win, that’s 270x + 100x + 25x, summing up to 395x what I originally bet. (Which is still not worth betting for SToaK, but that’s besides the point.)

One option (when it comes to categories) is not any less riskier than the other; you either pass the subcategory’s win condition (e.g. SToaK) or you don’t.

You multiply your side bet, not your main bet.

If you put 10 on 21+3 and 100 on your main bet, the multiplier applies to your sidebet. Let’s say you get a flush. You’d get paid out 5:1 on your sidebet of 10, which is completely seperate to your main bet.

Nothing

If you put 25 on Top 3, 21+3 and Player Pair and got a suited three of a kind you’d get paid out 6750 for your top 3 bet, 2500 for your 21+3 bet and 625 for your player pair bet.

I know that. I am ignoring the main bet; my point still stands. If the minimum for the sidebet is 1, then my profits from the side bet (for SToaK) is 395 “if I win the side bet”.

Which -again- brings me back to: “Why bother making separate categories?”

It’s like… suppose I have a side bet category called “unnecessary sidebets” which only has one subcategory called “sidebet A” which has a payout of 10:1.

Then I have a second category called “important side bets” which also only has one subcategory called “sidebet A” which has the same condition as the one from “unnecessary bets”. Except this one’s payout is 90:1. (For whatever reason.)

Like, why not just make one collective sidebet category where sidebet A’s payout is 100:1?

because people like massive payouts so the casino wants to offer that? :wowee:

and the casino is not offering 270:1 payouts on a sidebet that has a more-than-the-casino-would-like chance of winning anyway

That literally doesn’t make sense. I’m asking why you’d want to sell slices of cake when you could just sell one big cake, and your answer is “because the people loves big cakes”.

Is– Is this whole conversation just a strawman fallacy slapstick comedy? (Man, I can’t believe I’m starting to miss the time when I’m crazy for talking with myself.)

do you say this in assumption that the player would place an equivelant bet on both the “unnecessary sidebets” and “sidebet a” categories?

I am completely confused at what you’re asking going to be real

Yeah? If the success condition is the same, then why would you bet more on one category than the other?

“Oh boy! If I flip heads, then Guy A will give me whatever I invest in him times 10, whereas Gal B will give me 90x payout! Y’know what, let’s be crazy and invest 100 in A, but 10 in B!”

“Whoops! Tails! Aw shucks, I guess I lost 110!”

“Hooray! Heads! I get 1k from A, and 900 from B! Wait, why didn’t I invest more in B? I could have won more!”

One is much less likely to pay you out than the other. It’s safer to place a 21+3 bet than a Top 3 bet.
Or the argument for placing on Top 3 is that you want a massive payout and you’re “feeling lucky”

because you get paid out for a straight and a flush

???

Wut? So we are betting on categories instead of subcategories? tutuu didn’t make a side bet on mixed pairs only, but rather SToaK and colored pair as well?

That’s exactly right.

Ah. Now everything makes sense.
