I think so too. It was mostly the way Zorvo backed off Arete and tried to push Prisma that got me tinfoiling this. Plus the fact that Zorvo as scum thinks I am mislunch bait (I remember lol) so I think their approach (if their scumbuddies listened) would be to never NK me and townread me until I survive to endgame and then suddenly start scumreading me when it matters the most (like what orange did to me in a mash like a year ago).

I’m kind of worried b/c I’m very easily pocketed by people townreading me if I’m not reading the game super closely (actually, I’m probably easily pocketed even if I did read it closely). I kind of want to reset my reads and start from scratch and make a push because I haven’t done much this game and I think we could have avoided some misexes if I had just been more involved (particularly the Magnus and Eliza exes - I didn’t really have a read on Otter).

it’s probably gonna sound a bit like gobbledygook, but i think he’s being pretty creative and hyperactive for a wolf, like he’s considering every possibility at the exact same time

and at points i think i remember seeing random thoughts i’d forgotten he’d ever had, suddenly becoming relevant in his newer world building shenanigans, and he pulled those back into the equation (like his mentioning how he thought prisma would avoid bussing early). they’re the kinds of things that make me think he actually cares about his thoughts, even when you’re not looking.

i think lemon’s getting villagerier in the sense that she’s finally figuring out what exactly tf she wants to do with her life here lol

and her arete post was pretty towny, not just for the level of thought but because of how she’s constantly mentioning things happening around arete, like how zorvo was being extra annoying right before that one arete “look i think you’re being wolfy” post, and how she felt about eliza at the time that arete started pushing her. wolves don’t usually go that extra mile in big showy iso posts like this, and it feels like she’s rattling off a bunch of pings she’s had throughout this game instead of just trying to comment on all relevant arete posts.

When I played with him as wolf in Starcraft, he sure stuck around in thread, talked, and noted some reads down, but it didn’t feel like he was an active participant in the game trying to provoke anything, just an observer making… well, observations, and seeing if he could get any suspicions to stick on someone.

Because of that stark difference in playstyle, and the fact that doing incomprehensible shit for reactions is townie no matter who’s doing it, I soft townread him for now, though given I was suspecting him on and off all game specifically because I noticed this tell, it’s not anything definitive; I think that, upon randing wolf after Starcraft, Zorvo’d specifically avoid repeating the exact tells he got called out on in that game - people are learning, changing beings, and so a distinctive opposite of someone’s last wolfgame can also be a tell.

I think that, if there’s wolves in thread right now, at least one is probably trying to look like a bit of a tryhard. That probably means Zorvo, who I currently TR, Atlas, and Arete. For the sake of beautiful, wonderful, fleeting earlygame confidence, I will discount the possibility of Zorvo being a wolf. I wouldn’t go as far to call the latter two not W/W, it’s entirely possible IMO, but I think if they are, the third wolf probably hasn’t posted yet? Or is Phraze.

Out of the two, I think Arete is the more likely wolf, as their opening Q&A was free “content” without content and Arctic is engaging with my earlygame reads exactly how I want people to - giving proper reactions to them, pushing others to interact with them, that sort of thing. That’s an easy pocket, so Arctic’s town for now. I don’t know why the brain machine won’t give Arete the same credit for doing something quite similar, but it won’t, so that’s how things are.

For the record, I’ve seen town Seth in a few recent games, and he is very often right . I don’t understand people who say he’s completely incomprehensible or has no underlying logic - I usually find him predictable and easy to follow.

My agreeing with him in this case is a combination of a few factors -

1. As I mentioned earlier, Arete is doing exact the same thing as you are, but I’m not getting town pings from them. I couldn’t tell you why.
2. Zorvo, someone I find towny, is already voting them, and I generally think his instincts have more merit than people give them credit for.
3. Encouraging wagons and opinions and 1v1s is very good for the gamestate, and Zorvo specifically tends to have strong opinions that yield a lot of material to analyze.
4. Arete’s response to Zorvo seems primarily concerned with defending themselves, in a way that’s like… they see it as an argument to win, and the winstate is everyone else wolfreading Zorvo. It’s the sort of thing Molly was doing to me on early days in GOAT^2, and I missed that tell.

In a consequence-free situation there is zero motivation for scum to do anything . It is only the threat of being voted or the reward of potential misvotes that drives evils to do all but the most basic of tells.

This is mountainous. Executions and voting are the game. Any day phases during which we do not at least pretend to play the game are as meaningless as signup thread chatter. If you want to no-exe, fine, but the ideal way to do that is to at least pretend you’re going to vote someone off to initially pressure them, and only swing to no-execution toward the end of the day.

I think Prisma’s a better execution than Hail was because they’ve had more interaction with the game - more people have expressed opinions on them, they’ve potentially spewed a few people town, et cetera. Hail was a last-minute flashwagon, IIRC, which meant we didn’t have the continuous interaction with how the votes on them sat, rose, and fell.

Top town right now is probably Zorvo, he had very distinctive tells last game and he’s not doing any of them right now. It’s not a set-in-stone read, as people learn and change and grow, and I have some specific tests planned to double-check myself on this one that I won’t get too far into.

I voted Magnus because 1. they were making more jokes about being wolf than I thought I remembered 2. they were leveraging past games in a way I thought felt off and 3. joining wagons and pushing in directions is good for the gamestate, and I thought Magnus was a good angle to push on.

I actually went back and checked previous games to see if Magnus did the same wolf-joke and leverage thing… and found what I would now recognize to be evidence that it’s normal for them, but which I was able to handwave away at the time as “good enough”.
