You can end the game earlier than you can in Mafia. That’s an upside because Mafia is war, and war is hell.
BotF and mahjong are basically the same thing
botf is kinda like hackmons cup if you think about it. all the possibilities are public knowledge but there are just so many of them, the roles/(moves/items/abilities) often interact with each other in wacky and unforeseen ways, and there’s just enough rng/host interference for things to feel like they’re in your control while they’re really not.
youre not totally wrong about the second part but i think a good host will make things feel like theyre in control because the storyteller is your pet that doesnt actually hold the power
I was thinking about Trouble Brewing + Cawthane, just because I liked what it added to the script, but I’m concerned that upsets the perfect balance for new players because of the unclear Outsider count and it complicates the Demon-hunting process. Is this a concern or not really?
For the sake of reference:
Cawthane (Demon) | Each night*, choose a player: they die. [Minions choose who you are, +1 Outsider] |
It’s probably fine.
I think its pprobably fine
Add another outsider
No.
No I mean
12p + 2 + 1 outsiders
There’s not enough touching grass
you dont necessarily need that, it just caps at max
Trouble Brewing is designed as such that the Drunk is the only hidden Outsider. I’m fine with it capping out at max with a Baron and Cawthane at twelve players.
Snitch was the only other public Outsider I could readily find and as Amelia pointed out, that plays poorly with the Spy.
I mean, at that point you’re hunting for a Baron, and you’re not necessarily looking for a specific Demon type that early on.
Contrast pretty much any other script where the Demon type is paramount to everything. Here, a starpass is the only thing setting them apart, and SW’s on the script anyway.
you dont really need 5 outsiders just because you can have +3
because once you have +3 it can start to be unbalanced to the setup
fair
fair
5/12 rolecards done
im debating whether to cap it at 12 so i can just call it a day and dont have to worry about getting more than 12
not like thats ever been a problem in the past though
