many people answer $10, but the correct answer is actually $5
anyways I saw a paper on Twitter about this, where they basically tested different warnings (e.g. telling people to check their answer) to see if they would make people more likely to get the right answer
and in one of their tests they tried literally just saying:
A bat and a ball cost $110 in total.
The bat costs $100 more than the ball.
How much does the ball cost?
The answer is $5.

If the ball costs $10, then the bat would cost $100, which is only $90 more than $10
If the ball costs $5, then the bat costs $105
$105 - $5 = $100
5 + 105
