Given our understanding of AI currently
being able to mass manage groups of people is ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh kinda suspect

I kinda respect how good DN is at keeping my suspension of disbelief active despite the sheer questionability of points

Well, going back to what we said about productivity. People are happier when they have something to do, but some unpleasant people would refuse to do do anyway. If we had some way of directing people into fulfilling some need, or the perception of a need, they might feel happier for it.

Or even giving people a way to act out and resist safely, if we can’t make them productive for society.

I swear you mentioned how terrible Death Note was in the past, and it’s your first time watching it now.

Did I misunderstand the question?

If at least, say, half of society has some reason to exist, we can reach out to other planets and colonise the universe like an invasive species.

We’re going to do that anyway to some of the moons or planets in our solar system at some point anyway, probably.

you said that if somehow we gave humanity into fufilling an objective consistently, it’ll make humanity non-stagnant

how would you go around that
