possession decrim only
that doesn’t negate anything I just said
when people say legal weed they typically mean legality of sale as well
basically orange thinks laws should ruin lives, not weed
really the ideal is that our legal system doesn’t mass incarcerate people in jails that fuck them up
I think we are in the best of both worlds, both weeds and laws ruin lives now
in which case said laws would not be life-destroying in the same way
My own view on it comes from two things.
-
I have watched people destroy their lives or body using various legal substances for as long as I’ve been alive. I don’t see how it marijuana would be any different. This is just a freedom that the US in particular has allowed, even if I personally hate these substances and they’ve brought me despair in life.

Legalization comes with stronger regulation and education about the substance in time. This is something we have seen with other drugs, and that often leads to less abuse. We already have it everywhere in the country, I’d rather have more education on the pros and cons known by the average person.
if you know that by buying something you can have it fully legally, that’s a big deterrent to purchasing it gone
We should fully decriminalize and spend the same amount of money and effort we currently do on enforcement of drug laws and incarceration of drug offenders on addressing the conditions which create users in the first place.
weed specifically i think is not as bad as the legal prosecution in the name of preventing usage is. by a large margin.
that’s probably the key point of disagreement

marijuana
I love that most people in the anime community I’m in have collectively decided to call this anime “Make Heroine”
Both drugs and the justice system can ruin lives, but only one of those is prescribed and enforced by the state.
Also, as a historian the criminalization of things you will never be able to get rid of, just leads to worse outcomes.
I’m almost there
i don’t like using bmi because it always tells me i’m about to die
We’ve moved on - opinions on using weed?
they might have frappes
and given Starbucks hold in the market alot of places frappes grow closer to starbucks ones
at the end of the day I do generally agree with the points regarding education, reform, the ineffectiveness of prohibition in general, etc.
but that doesn’t mean I don’t wish the system was such that things could be illegal and not result in destroying lives as a result with regularity
