Like I don’t generally have investment in defining words’ “inherent meanings” but I have never heard somebody telling completely unintentional, well-reasoned falsehoods, in which they had no responsibility to know otherwise, called a “liar”

Like my definition is literally:
They are a liar, but they only lie because they believe they are true

VS

They are a liar, who lies despite not beliving they are telling the truth

My argument is not “this word cannot mean this”, it’s that “people do not generally ever use this word to mean this”

Is this, like, your custom definition of the word “liar” based on personal principles, or do people frequently use the words “liar” and “lying” in the first sense in your experience?
