Something character-focused is probably a safe choice

Also if you’re going to rec Oshi no Ko (I think you liked that), I’d have to get a different subscription to watch that

I mean I’d recommend episode 1 of Oshi no Ko insanely hard but the rest of the show is like fine I guess

anyways within anime the top tier recs (excluding super-popular things like FMA/AoT) are

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Higurashi
  • Code Geass
  • Shiki (recommend going in blind if possible)
  • Madoka Magica
  • Fate/Zero
  • Psycho-Pass
  • Made in Abyss (recommend going in blind if possible)
  • Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
  • Perfect Blue (if you want a movie instead of a show)

All of these are what I would consider to be the best of the best personally

If I had to pick one to tell anybody to watch it would probably be Made in Abyss, although Higurashi is my personal favorite

  • Spice & Wolf (I haven’t seen the reboot but the original is really good)

  • Redline (for another movie rec, this one is incredible for the strength of its animation)

very likely once this new season wraps I’ll watch both seasons of the original adaptation (own the blu-ray) and then watch the new show back to back

and I will say I love my boy Kevin Penkin very much but the og soundtrack is a very high bar to clear
