in high school i somehow became known for being Good At Chess™ (i was okay) and one girl who had been on a spontaneous streak of sitting net to me in any class we had together recently challenged me to a game and then towards the middle game in a completely mundane position she started dramatically putting her head in her hands like oh my god it’s over for me
