Text based DnD (sort of) works if everyone can be online at the same time as each other and you have a decent virtual tabletop software (roll20 used to be good but it’s complete shit now, my friend uses foundry which seems okay but it’s too obnoxiously resource intensive for my toaster of a computer and you have to pay to host games using it)
trying to play asynchronously is doomed though

I use avrae’s free battle map plugin thing so everything stays on discord, it’s been complicated to set up but it works ig
