I don’t know why I think it’s forward it feels intuitive but I can’t explain it
It probably means you are right
Hmmm if somebody said “push it forward” I would definitely think that meant 7PM actually. I’d be confused if somebody said “push it forward” and meant 5PM
“Pull it forward” meaning 5PM is not unintuitive to me but it is odd
Apparently people have argued about this a lot on LinkedIn
WAIT I GOT IT
Say you have a list of things
You want to do the things in the order of the list
When yoy push something forward, you mofe it up the list
That’s why it feels intuitive to me
If you “push something ahead” you move it farther away from you. If you “pull something back” you move it closer toward you. But “pull forward” or “push back” are different
I think “push ahead” and “pull ahead” are different, and I think “push forward” and “pull forward” are different
I think my conclusion is that this is way too ambiguous to be useful in conversation and it’s probably best to just say earlier/later
Tomorrow, we should push this topic ahead when we eventually discuss it
This is why “move” is the best word for this
Move it ahead to change to 5
Push it back to change to 7
