The bet was we bet on Brak’s color in the 2 rooms and 1 boom game. I bet red and he bet blue. The loser had to make a 100 word long post in the cookie thread about how great the other one was. Brak was Blue.

alright i’m back

I agree that Res Con is worse value than advantage when it comes to concentration checks

I definitely agree with you that lucky is better than war caster / res con in the situations of 1-2 encounter days OR when none of the encounters are particularly challenging (since being able to get advantage on initiative is a strong effect)

It seems we agree on martials preferring the damage feats so we’re looking at rogue / casters

I agree that lucky is a valid 1 or 4 choice for rogue
I haven’t done the calcs for rogue but I assume you probably want sharpshooter regardless

It’s kind of hard to predict exactly how many concentration checks you will make over the course of an adventuring day
it’s also hard to predict exactly what you’re going to face but I’ll propose stuff

thank you leafeon  :annoyedleafeon:

I question if Lucky saves you in particularly bad days as a caster where you are forced to make several concentration checks / con saves
I question if Lucky provides utility to make up for its limitations in those same days

I also question how to quantify the utility it provides in non-combat scenarios

the answer is probably ‘it’s dependent on the table’ but a lot of things are dependent on the table so it feels like a non-answer

In combat the benefits are being able to use it on initiative and being able to use it on saving throws
Everything else combat related is low utility

Lucky definitely has the potential to be encounter saving against save or sucks such as a Mind Flayer’s mind blast (stuns for 1 minute on a failed int save). Lucky as advantage generation needs a decent base chance to succeed, so it’s not saving you in situations like the aforementioned mind blast unless you have party support or you have some manner of bonus there.
