And if a person’s main exposure to autistic people is YouTube Shorts complaining about category #1, despite category #1 being overall a quite small share of autistic people, then they’ll start projecting the traits of category #1 onto autistic people at large.
It’s also just straightforwardly easy to use hating on category #1 to excuse hating on autistic people in general: if traits like “not making eye contact” and “using long words and speaking ‘awkwardly’” are strongly associated with “somebody with a superiority complex”, then you’ve got a perfectly good reason to hate those people!
“Oh I’m not being ableist lol you just kinda sound like an annoying autism guy from my YouTube Shorts when you [display objective uncontrollable trait of being autistic]”. Y’know

for me if someone says stuff like that it is Just Bigoted. they do not have to be subtle where I live if they don’t want to. multiple people have literally just done nazi salutes at like events and in class and the school i was going to did not give a shit in the slightest

I don’t think the way most people use “pick-me” is overtly misogynistic. I think it’s subtly so! I think it associates traits like “not shaving or wearing makeup” with an Unpleasant, Undesirable, even Misogynistic person in a way that’s, like, not overtly bad on an individual level but which causes unpleasant societal trends as a larger whole
