It is a game about lying. If I lie about my confidence that someone is a wolf because I think shifting gears would be a net negative for my slot and the game as a whole, that’s just playing according to my win con. If I lie about my town read on a player because I think it’s better to keep them unaware of my suspicions and less likely to night kill me if they are a wolf, again that’s just playing to my win con. The utility of honesty is contextual in a game of werewolf, and lying as a villager isn’t bad play or a moral failing.
