so I’m busy pushing out an update (read: complete overhaul) to an old circuit board that’s been in use for a while (got the assignment yesterday, due today)
and I realize as I’m routing things out that none of these components have capacitors on their input voltage pins to help stabilize the voltage they receive (very important!)
and I’m like
“wait, but I swear I remember seeing decoupling capacitors on the schematic - where are those if not on the ICs?”
turns out whoever designed this board just slapped a single via in the middle of it and put the decoupling caps on that
