I don’t believe in ghosts so I don’t think one could fly in my face

I’m a Skeptic, they stop working in my presence

Or an Athiest, if that’s more apt

your belief is blind!! it could theoretically, not likely, but theoretically, happen!!

I’m being a bit of an asshole about this I understand this but it just genuinely confuses me how much people will qualify any “I don’t believe in ghosts” statement with “well, I’m still open to hte possibility…” cause it doesn’t make sense to me

i took a class on weird science (just like. weird claims made about science and cryptids and stuff like that) and it conditioned me to approach things like this from an open minded perspective

unrelatedly i lost a little respect for amelia tbh

For me it reads like being “open to the possibility” that the earth is flat. Like people have tried and failed to prove this over and over again, there has never been any evidence in its favour, I’m sure you COULD build a theory where every single thing conveniently words out but it’d be ridiculous and a stretch. If I went to space and the earth appeared flat them I’d believe the earth was flat but that’s not going to happen because the earth isn’t flat. I don’t see why “ghosts exist” is a possibility I should meaningfully take into account literally at all

there is proof and tried and testing to the world being flat that theres a ton of evidence against it

there is basically no relevant evidence that other people here would believe to or for ghosts being real

i’m not meaningfully taking it into account. i just wouldn’t deny the existence of ghosts if confronted with overwhelming evidence they do exist. i think we just disagree about what the open minded option means

There is no evidence to suggest im not Batman

And people have tried over and over again to find concrete evidence that ghosts exist and come up with nothing!! To some degree it’s a “proving a negative” thing but IDK. Like I assume everybody would feel similarly about “the earth actually has a second moon none of us have ever seen because it’s always just out of sight”

Yeah I suppose so

Like I just don’t think it’s worth conceding at all any sense of open-mindedness because it’s so far from a possibility in my mind. I wouldn’t tell a flat-earther I’m open-minded

we know that isnt true because we’ve seen outside this earth! you’re stating proven wrong things!

Reasonable openmindedness doesnt extend further than agnosticism - “you can neither prove nor disprove”. “Open to the possibility of existing” sounds a bit more like you believe it than if you say youre agnostic but this is like a linguistics thing. Expectations when you read these words

And every single way people have conjectured ghosts exist has turned out to be wrong when investigated
