i know what the motivators are behind competitions, i just discounted them because they dont bring much or any monetary rewards. i was thinking for myself. thought i dont actually know if quizbowl competitions pay well

basically the only thing that keeps quizbowl cheating rare is a gentleman’s agreement and the general understanding that cheating at the buzzer trivia game with no tangible reward besides the respect of your peers makes you a massive loser
