okay
it might help to set out a dedicated amount of time to devote to this game (and potentially your other activities) so you use your time here productively

why?

@min

here is my plan

plan
  • get to year 2300 in stellaris
  • then, go do this game for like 30 minutes
  • then, go work on stellaris FM or smth for another 30 minutes
  • repeat steps 2 and 3 for a bit

nvm I found your explanation

I feel like this is just saying ‘Vul is being solvy’ with more words which is well within the range of things he can fake

although I do kind of think it’s townie for probably dumb reasons which is that a couple months ago we were talking about how to figure out which types of reads work better or worse and this feels like a natural outgrowth of that conversation

he could, as a wolf, believe that Wazza is playing really similarly between this game and the old meta he brought up (regardless of Wazza’s alignment)

so why is it >rand v

if the circumstance difference is only alignment then that isn’t really a satisfactory answer

basically i said in what circumstance would it not be >rand v and you said if he was a wolf

which makes me wonder why you think it’s >rand v in the first place

because I think it’s more likely to be the case that he is saying something he believes as town than as scum

it’s not – okay so, do you ever see a read where you’re like, ‘this is definitely something you believe is true, but you could easily be saying it as a wolf’? like it’s not something like that

I think that explanation is making it worse rather than better

saying what it isn’t doesn’t really help lol

like

bad example but

if he said ‘Atlas is posting a lot’

that’s definitely something he believes in but it’s not villagery to say

whereas in this case, his solving process also makes sense with what I would expect it to be as town from a player of his experience level, and he believes what he’s saying (specifically the part about Wazza being similar between the two games), which is villagery but not lock clearing because he could also believe it as a wolf

and conversely if he were making reads he didn’t believe in that would generally be wolfy

you keep mentioning experience level
why is this relevant? why does experience level matter when referencing meta reads? what would he do with a different level of experience?

technically if you just don’t make reads you won’t defend any wolves

(this is a joke)

experience level is relevant because it affects how people make reads (+ what standard is expected of them, to a certain extent)

like if Vul posted the exact posts YBW has made and then dipped I’d be like ‘okay so, we are yeeting Vul today, everyone get on the wagon’

because my standards for what Vul is capable of are higher

in this case I see YBW as falling into a pattern that inexperienced villagers often fall into, when they’re struggling to get a foothold on the game, where they end up heavily relying on their past experiences/“meta” – this is a pattern you see a lot with Gorta (I’m counting him as part of the archetype even though he’s not actually inexperienced because he does the same thing)

this doesn’t not happen with experienced players but inexperienced players do it more

no. its towny because its more than being solvy

vulgards effort level matches completely with their motive of wanting to be better at town and its not wavering and isnt outright fake
