⚀ Basic Information

:spades: Fifteen players. Experimental*. Closed-setup. Role madness. Reveals on all deaths. 48 hour days, 24 hour nights. Follow the Forum Game Rules.
(*Investigative information may not be reliable. Rolecards will not directly lie, but they may have hidden interactions not visible to their owner. Flips are accurate. Third parties may or may not exist.)

:hearts: Be ready to gamble. This game will contain RNG elements, which will be visible to and rolled in front of players using Discobot. Reward does not come without risk.

:clubs: Night actions must be submitted in role PMs at least two hours before phase end, or they will be denied. Day actions will take effect 24 hours after the day begins and must be submitted at least 30 minutes before the middle of the day. This game will follow Natural Action Resolution. Action loops will, of course, be resolved randomly.

:diamonds: Claiming your role ability/host communications, paraphrased, or your assigned character is permitted, but do so at your own risk. Mechanics may make claiming dangerous. Flavor is not alignment-indicative, but abilities are based on flavor. Claiming, hinting at, or attempting to game exact rolecard or ability message text is not allowed.

⚁ Voting Mechanics

:spades: Each day, players in the game may vote for who to execute. At the end of the day, the player with the most votes will be executed. Players are permitted to vote for themselves or for no execution. Ties will be resolved randomly.

:hearts: All day actions are submitted during the first half of the day and processed at mid-day. During the second half of the day, the phase will end immediately if any player has over half of the living votes. If all players privately agree to skip the remainder of any phase, it will end as soon as the hosts are available.

:clubs: Some roles may place hidden votes not seen in the public votecount. Players will learn if there are any hidden votes placed on them when the day starts. No hidden votes can be placed mid-day. Hidden votes will not count for majority.

:diamonds: If the mafia would reach parity on an incorrect execution, all votes will be locked, and all vote manipulation abilities will be disabled.

⚂ Special Mechanics

:spades: In the first 24 hours of each day, each player may choose a player and bet that they will flip non-town. These bets will be placed privately in each player’s role PM.

:hearts: Each day, the first X submitted bets on a given player, where X is the number of living players / 4, rounded down, will be recorded. At the 24-hour mark, players will learn if their bet was counted or not.

:clubs: When a non-town player is executed, players who submitted successful bets on them that day will receive a boosted action the following night.

:diamonds: Each role will come with its own specific boosted action, visible to players when they receive their card.

⚃ The Mafia

:spades: Mafia communications and kill submission will take place on Discord. This chat will be available to living mafia members at all times.

:hearts: The mafia have a factional kill, which is optional and assigned. It can be performed alongside other actions.

:clubs: Before Day One begins, the mafia may freely choose to swap their roles between themselves.

:diamonds: The mafia win when they reach parity with the remaining players and defeat any other players with opposing win conditions. The town win when only town-aligned players live. Third parties, if they exist, have an unknown win condition.

Welcome to Hyakkaou Private Academy.

Life is an endless competition which rewards the strongest with survival. However, even the most capable will eventually be faced with a situation where they cannot completely ensure their own victory. Those who shirk away from risk will inevitably stumble over such setbacks, no matter how talented they are. True success can only be achieved by those who know how to accept the possibility of failure and press on nonetheless. To live perpetually in fear of a bad outcome is to suffer it preemptively, and to stay only on the safest path is to hardly live at all.

Reward does not come without risk. Remember this today.

Day One begins shortly.

Day actions and gambles are due by 2024-11-17T22:00:00Z. Class rankings will be released 2024-11-18T22:00:00Z. Due to new student council policy, the lowest-ranked player at the time of release will be expelled. Good luck.

My ability this game isn’t too good admittedly. I won’t give any clues on what it is though because I’m kind of worried about what the anticlaim could be.

Here’s someone who can’t count. Villagery. On a serious note though, nothing has yet been AI I think. Not surprising though with how early it is.

Alright, look. I know that I’m a typically mechanically minded player so this is NAI for me to say this but I think that in general a positive strategy for town is if we decide on our execution a good bit in advance so that as many of us as possible can achieve our Gamble Won abilities. Yes, it is entirely possible that mafia get more powerful benefits from doing so due to the numbers discrepancy and I also know the importance about being able to change our minds if we think we’ve made a mistake early on in the day but this is just a good baseline.

Also yes “Kiiruma doing a mechanical opener. Zzzz” but deal with it

There’s only one problem with that which is why I think that suggestion is a bit wolfy. In order to win that gamble, the person that’s executed has to be nontown. We lose the gamble if we execute a villager.

Slight scumlean for Kiiruma so far. The suggestion just seems like it’s engineered to maximise the chances of a mislynch to me because we wouldn’t be doing as much discussing before deciding on the execution.

Suppertime now so heading out for the time being. :sleepingleafeon:

Eh I mean I hate to point out the obvious but we should be gambling people as non-town anyway. If we decide on who we’re executing early then it has no downside, yes we can be mistaken, yes sometimes we might change our minds part way through the day.

However, this is generally +ev as it’ll maximise our chances of a buff if we’re cohesive and correct.

You are correct that we lose the gamble if we execute a villager. That’s the case even without my plan, might I point out. My plan on the other hand has a much higher benefit which is that we have cohesion and coordination. To maximise the buff when we ARE right.

Otherwise town’s more likely to be disjointed. As it’ll then be a question between voting for the person you gambled or voting for someone who town’s on moreso, it’ll create a conflict of interests which is contrary to what my plan would cause which is consistency.

If we’re wrong, we’re wrong together but we would’ve been wrong anyway.
