I changed my mind. Here is how I would like my faction to be determined:

Roll a d31.

1-12: Patrician. If this is rolled but there are no patricians, then I /out.
13-27: Chief. If this is rolled but there are no chiefs, then I /out.
27-28: Grandee.
29-30: Baron.
31: Count.
