I do read the card, its not against the rules to have a bad memory
I know but its still against the spirit of the game
I mean I dont just write my role down
I also write down my thoughts on all the other players, who I think is good, who is sus, and stuff like that

You couldnt be punished for actually forgetting your card yes, but IMO morally it goes against the spirit of the game youre trying to play to refuse to check when prompted

and it is legal to gaslight yourself into thinking you’re town (which can apparently work well enough that you doubt you’re town when you really are, and check your rolecard to make sure)
