i think itās more because feminine folk are placed under far more social scrutiny than masculine folk, and so some women seek out being āhonourary menā. and thereās a difference between that and being a trans man. itās more likeā¦ a temporary state of being one of the good ones that can be revoked at any time if the men in the group decide such
you either seek refuge in becoming acceptable to men and their sentiments
or you seek refuge in undoing the control of men over society in the first place
i chose the latter.
i saw it happen plenty of times at school. and i was myself kind of an honorary man despite not being out? like, my masculinity was held as contingent on me continuing to be amusing to male sensibilities. all the pathetic edgelords around me that I tried to convince myself I was friends with could tell something was āoffā about me, and the moment I started criticising the horrific things they said, I was immediately treated asā¦ well, less than human.
return to being cats
point is. you donāt get a better life by sucking up to those who have power over you. no amount of charm can rectify a situation where you are considered disposable by somebody else. you have to find a better way to relate to people.
those who hold societal power unjustly must be undermined, and on the small scale which we walk, the way to do that is to form social groups, friend groups and family, based around mutual trust and respect rather than on hierarchy
what does honorary man mean
