i will not get into it further but like. i think it is fairly blatant from how i’ve been talking that i do not like capitalism one bit. and not just the abstracted, Marxism 101 version, but the real, living breathing version that we’re all staring down right now even more so.

however like. we have a no politics rule for a reason. i’ve been fairly deliberately avoiding doing any direct, like, "I am a Socialist"ing here, I’ve more been presenting one particular historical interpretation I was taught at Cambridge with some glosses of my own and letting you all come to your own conclusions. and there certainly is room for that, by the way.

I guess i cant claim with confidence its impossible. This is just like “can we say ghosts dont exist” debate. I think that some things are unlikely enough that the reasonable thing is to not entertain them, but if you want to i cant stop you or prove you with certainty that youre wrong, no

like yeah i do my best to understand within reason, but ultimately there’s a leap of faith you have to do when existing in a world with other people. you’ll never know their minds for certain, so I instead hold on to what I can know - there’s always a chance to make the world a better place. it’s never hopeless. and if you fail to change the world, you can at least change a part of it for the better.

I said “is it likely?” out of politeness. My actual opinion was “this is ridiculous”
i think someone said that as people without a massive impact over the entire world, we can just try to change the 5-10 people’s closest to us lives for the better, and if everyone did that everyone would be happier

hah. i mean, for my perspective, I think we need to do more than just that. because some people sincerely believe the happiness of their closest ones to be contingent on the deprivation of others. the answer is a collective action, no matter how small
