fire emblem fates is a similar game to the 3DS pokemon games in terms of being like. decent but in a way where it constantly shows off how good it could’ve been and then steadfastly Refuses To Be As Good As It Could Be

i mean that feels only a bit shy of 3H, which is a great game but clearly has too many cut corners to be truly fantastic
like most of the lategame story is a fuckin powerpoint
also 3H is visually quite ugly
at least its overall style is better than whatever the fuckin vtuber one is tho so like I guess there’s that
i think three houses is in a different category mainly because you can actually appreciate a lot about it without driving yourself to the brink of insanity trying to figure out how they made the series of decisions they did
it very simply was an ambitious game that had its’ flaws

three houses has an actually interesting story that has a lot to say that suffers from over-ambition and the fact that m!byleth exists when byleth as a character makes infinitely more sense if she’s a woman

I mean I buy that in the world where you specifically romance edelgard on her own route that sure that does probably make like a bit more sense
that being said I don’t think it actually makes that much more sense, nor do I think it makes any difference if your S-rank support is literally any other character

speaking earnestly, I think Three Houses as a story would really, really benefit from Byleth not being a silent protagonist, and I’m using “m!byleth shouldn’t exist” as a pithy way of purposely saying “there is one specific vision of Byleth that is significantly more interesting than the others” badly
