ok but players are willing to do this stuff. I was willing to do this stuff. We’ve seen it in tons of otber games, like the one that gave me inspiration for the idea, Diamond Arc Crossing

players are willing to create cool ideas in mountainous/mountainous like fields, esp ones that advance their wincon!

I didn’t watch Diamond Arc Crossing but my understanding was that it was good specifically because the host wasn’t afraid of power

*people who sign up for a genie game are significantly more likely to do so

Insulting

I think it’s possible to create games where players build a proper game from the ground up but it’s also placing a lot of burden onhte players and it’s not their fault if they don’t do that

I just wanna do a proper monkey’s paw wish man

I also expressly stated in the OP multiple times that the game is swingy and one where creativity is rewarded. Tensions were super high that game though and, in the end, one person wa ssuper toxic the entire game and another got banned for gamethrowing. Regardless of the wishes im still dissapointed with how thst game went

Like it’s just a lot easier for players to be creative when they have something to work with. Like, when I try to design mafia roles, it’s way easier to make a creative, novel, interesting role for a role madness game than it is for an otherwise-mountainous one

Youd think! Multiple people didnt read the OP and didnt know there were wishes multiple days into the game :)

I feel like you’re attributing to broader societal phenomena what is actually the fault of forum user Corrupted_Dreamer

It was not just them

“I wish for an alignment check” An alignment check? Alright, you’re a miller now so someone randomly learns you’re Mafia

Obviously not that level but like

That tracks

okay I have said it as a joke before but unironically wizard botc is a really good bet :sob:

Even better is town flagbearer, who loses the game for their team if the mafia successfully guess them.

FoL/player toxicity issues are separate things. I just think that as a host it’s your job to make a game that incentivises people to do interesting stuff. I’m not just taking about ENA it’s also about like Ash’s role and Dorian Gray and this one game somebody tried to run on Nintendo Loop where they got upset when I tried to optimise it

When do I get to place the monkeys paw on a role and have it say “Your wishes will be twisted to be at least partially negative utility” like on the role and then people wish anyways because it’s the monkeys pas

Im not saying its not easier but the barrier of creativity is far lower than what you seem to be implying. Its not hard to get creative with stuff, esp when its not just like propped on to you
