Okay, you’re a Mafia alignment cop.
get someone to do my work for me because i really shouldn’t be on fol til i’m done
We’re explicitly avoiding that and KP
It’s a N0 Alignment cop, who also learns a new member of the mafia each time their target is dead.

Possible
Alignment
Alignment
Pretty good
KP, KP that’s kinda deeply miserable for the mafia, and implicitly an alignment check for the latter
Ok but questionable utility
This will get you killed but is funnny
Alignment
Im going off memory here so details may not be exact
For mafia: Making yourself a “town inventor” who only gives out items that help mafia, I.E a gun that when shot will only kill town members, among other items i dont remember off the top of my head.
Commuting yourself and a strong town player out of thread, in an effort to convince them of your beliefs privately
Town: Making someone you scumread into a suicice bomber so you 100% kill them and someone else, protecting a group of people, creating a neighborhood, try to introduce roles for ToL into the game
Like arguably these probably arent as powerful as “kill a player” or “investigate a player” but they 100% still have great utility!
weird way of announcing a surrender but i getcha
I think this happened as well? I dont remember. Whether or not thats good is def debateable but it def advances ur own wincon
Dude I have surrendered so much to benguinedparbecue he’s my evil advisor I’ve surrendered entirely. I’ll do whatever he wants.
Your definition of alignment is way broader than the optimal alignment cop
I’d argue friendly neighbor is Good Alignment
And like after a game where i saw reslly cool creativity done it is def dissapointing to see ehat feels like a step down in that regard and a step down in the quality of the game as well.
what’s that supposed to mean
Yeah
I wish my theaters played movies I actually care about
I wish to become a universal backup with a 2-shot motion detector
To some degree you’re also always going to get variance in the quality of your playerlists. I don’t disagree that some of the effect is specific players. But you can as a host create games which incentivise fun play to try to minimise that kind of issue. And doing stuff like “make an escape room, and it’s strictly pro-wincon to make it as easy as possible, but expect your players to not do that because it’s boring” isn’t that
The thing in question here is grand idea, which i dont really think is the forefront of the issue you seem to have
The thing in question is a Grand Idea role, I’m talking about roles, how is it not the issue. This issue also comes up in broader game design but it’s relevant. I don’t understand what you’re saying
I like game design a lot!!! I like it. I really like game design. So it’s frustrating for me when people put the game deisgn stuff on players. Like it’s reasonable to be disappointed if you happened to get a bad hand with players but you can always do better with the design, you can always create games that “work better”.
It’s like… you know how there are good Sims games and bad Sims games, and in any given Sims game you can still do the fundamnetal imagination-roleplay-thing, there’s still plenty of possible fun you can have with any Sims game, but a good Sims game creates a good framework for imagination and makes it easier to be creative with? It’s like that to me
I create stuff cause I think game design is fun and that’s my fundamental motivation. I always want to make a better game. So it’s weird for me seeing people basically say “nah you don’t need to make a Better Game, players should just create their own fun”. It’s like.
It’s like if you’re a teacher, you can get bad students who aren’t self-motivated and don’t teach themselves stuff well, and sometimes they’re beyond saving and you can’t do anything about it, but a good teacher is good at teaching bad students. A well-designed game is good at forcing people to be creative
