there is most certainly an amount of showboating that is helpful

it’s also true that people who fall too far into CHS tend to flame out and not advance

in general I think showboating is probably much more favored by the votes than by jury in quals

but in semis the votes tend to all be from players who can usually do a good job making relatively objective votes so it doesn’t do much (and can easily actively hurt if you’re wrong or rub people the wrong way)

I think “showboating” maybe has wrong connotations, but there’s certainly a level of performing a specific character/role that helps with advancement

……it’s just that that role is not “showboaty player who thinks they know everything and don’t need to listen to anyone else” :joy_cat:

yeah I mean again if you go all “i’m the greatest ever” and everyone hates you then you ain’t moving on

but I think there’s a difference between saying that and acting with the confidence of somebody who believes they could be

and that’s kinda what I’m getting at
