Yeah that’s why I said Vulgard only made sense with the kills.
Unfortunately I just couldn’t figure out it wasn’t Squirrel and actually Ashylyn.

I mean you made me rethink Vulgard and your kill made me see Vulgard was similar to the time he pushed Marluxion In his wolf game like he pushed you here.
However Vulgard used your Ash townread to their advantage.
If Arctic even claimed PR I would have backed off of them.
But yeah I was way too tunnel visioned on Arctic for a majority of that game.
Ashlyn/Squirrel/Wazza which contains 2 wolves out of 3 which are real good odds of hitting a wolf.
I’m not voting any of you 4 today so we need to work together to determine and find 1 wolf in Wazza/Squirrel/Ashlyn.
Tbh for me it’s like.
I’d rather go Squirrel or Ashlyn over Wazza here tbh.Flygon
Yeah the more I read Wazza the more I just think he’s town.
I definitely vibe with Ashlyn and got Townie vibes from them.
flygon
im going to just. call this out right here.
you know what was posted between the last two posts of yours?
this kill rarely comes from a scum!Flygon world imo.
he was getting varying success on pushing arc, arc was townreading him, and if he was looking for a ML pushing arc off of the magnus exe would only propel his case
this.
you place almost all town/scum equity in someone based on their read on you, to such and insane degree that you essentially almost locked this game for a scum win the instant i posted this, and i posted this specifically because i knew it was the reaction i would get.
you need to work on reading people without letting their reads on you determine yours on them.
Guava was so incredibly townie and the idea of pushing them was so ridiculous and so impossible to succeed that I felt like it would give me towncred and uh I guess it worked? Until people started PoEing them which was hilarious
Yeah guava was literally the definition of obvtown and my only paranoia on the slot was maybe I was very misinformed about their experience level
I’m literally out of state rn lmao
kinda busy
Vulgard was wolfy because his reads were awful
That’s pmuch it lol
Same goes for Orange though I’m kinda shocked he uh began to believe me near the end I miss you tow
To be fair
I wasn’t reading the game
You just shook off the rust much better than I expected
Why did you track the literal vig claim lmao
2/3 wolves were pushing on kanave/flygon/guava who were all people that were just obviously town for their respective reasons
Yeah pmuch this lol
Cass trying to decide whether to push guava or flygon was p funny tho because I couldn’t just say “bruh they both town”
Not going to go in-depth as this one compared to my last ones, since this game was pretty short and I think most people recognize the play issues that were present in this game. (OK, reading back on this, I guess I did go pretty in-depth)
Hosting
The first thing I’d like to go over is the process of hosting this game. Now, it wasn’t especially strenuous, but I’m pretty proud of myself for probably cracking the code for hosting a good game on this site in terms of moderation duties, which are:
After an execution has been reached, post the flip immediately, as people in the game want to see the results ASAP
Institute a 23-hour deadline for action submission and process all night actions the hour before day start, and start day ASAP
If flavor is present in your game, make sure all flavor scenes are pre-written so you can easily copy and paste the relevant flavor into SoD/EoD scenes
As someone who is largely trying to improve in any mafia game I play (and as a host, I consistently want to better myself and make sure I do a better job providing a good experience to the players), I think I cracked the code here and expect something similar to this moderation quality hopefully in games I host moving forward. I hope people enjoyed some of the flavor thematics, I’m a big fan of the cyberpunk Netrunner universe and I was able to get a lot of good flavor out of the lore inserts from the game.
Mentoring
This was my first time hosting a mentor/mentee game on a site with very short day phases, and… I’m not super sure how well it actually played out in practice? I think ultimately it boils down to “you get out what you put in” and a couple of mentees requested mentors but didn’t really get to utilize them to their full potential, especially when the day phases are short and you can’t really rely them as a way to structurally change how you play the game. I’m down to publicize any mentor chats if both the mentor and mentee wish. I enjoyed reading orange/Caspore’s, Flygon/Litten’s, Mistyx/Squirrel’s, and Arete/Eliza’s, fwiw. I feel like this wasn’t exactly the “right” game for a mentor/mentee setup simply because the game did not end up lasting very long; but besides designing a different setup I’m not sure how I could have done much differently on that front. I’d love to hear feedback from mentors/mentees about how the system went (especially the part about mentors not explicitly providing mentees with their reads) so I can improve on it for the future potentially.
Postcap
The postcap accomplished its goal and made the game’s activity lower, which I think was a good move for anyone who was newer to the game (like Caspore). On the flipside though, I think the postcap hampered activity a little too much - and I’ll talk about this when I start talking about play this game. No one really took advantage of the fact I feel that postcap lifted 2 hours prior to EoD as a way to real-time effectively near EoD, but more importantly (though this could have been because of the deadline time) EoDs were mostly dead, with the only active EoD I feel sort of being EoD2. This ended up being disastrous for the town as the wolves were able to really control EoD and stave off pressure on them, instead redirecting them to one of the many LHF townies (I don’t think /any/ of the wolves got major pressure on them for most of the game, which is a testament on how well they outplayed the town here).
I’d like to hear more feedback about the postcap. I know as a player, I would be a big fan of postcaps since I can’t really keep up with games super easily nowadays, but the fact that postcaps led to inactive EoDs personally frustrated me as a host.
Setup
I wanted to host a no-frills, basic game intended for newbies, so I ripped off an old setup from my home site and added a 13th player (since our newbie setups were for 12 players). However, this actually ended up being a huge mistake, and one that I’m really disappointed in myself for not really catching.
This “mistake” was not accounting for the fact that 13ers are designed for the town to have 4 mislunches in total to work with in terms of the game, and adding the one-shot vigilante to the setup means that if the vig misfired, then the game would only have 3 mislunches – effectively turning the game into a 12 player game where Kanave was an IC instead of a vig (and Shending wasn’t even in the game at all).
If I had to host this game again, I would have maybe reduced some of the wolf’s power (turn the rolecop into a goon, for example) and turn Kanave into like a Friendly Neighbor or something – or I would have potentially make her a two-shot vigilante, to turn the game back into odds. I just did the minimum amount of thinking when I added a 13th player and didn’t realize the ramifications until I randed the game.
Play
Day 1
I don’t have a whole lot of thoughts with regards to Day 1, since I feel like the town wasn’t really able to form an accurate core/PoE early since most of the wolves had decently strong starts (Vulgard and Ashlyn in particular, with Ash taking advantage of recency bias to make it so that it was likely no one was interested in executing her D1). One thing that I did notice that I was hoping people would utilize in later days was the fact that all three wolves were on the D1 wagon, which is generally rare from my experience. I think if someone re-examined this vote count later on though, they would have potentially broken the game open.
ElizaThePsycho (6): NinjaPenguin, Flygon, Ashlyn, Arctic, Kanave, Vulgard
Flygon (2): guavagudetama, ElizaThePsycho
Squirrel2412 (2): Magnus, Shending_Help
Kanave (1): Caspore
Not Voting (2): Dum, Squirrel2412
Day 3 for example, knowing that Arctic, Eliza, and Kanave were town (and with Flygon being likely town) you could have very easily PoE’d the wolves in using this votecount, though I recognize that’s a risky judgement call to make in mylo.
It seemed like people kind of shruglunched Eliza, which was unfortunate but was likely the “best” outcome, as it prevented Arctic from having to claim and the wolves kind of accidentally outed themselves with this votecount.
I don’t want to shame people for their night action choices btw, but I wasn’t sure if vigging Shending or tracking Kanave was a good idea. Shending was probably the strongest player in the game and I have a feeling he would have either cleared himself if he was allowed to come into the game on Day 2, or be able to refocus on the wolves/be a potential sounding board for Arctic that Day (which Arctic /really/ needed IMO). The wolves gambitted here in terms of not roleblocking Kanave with the hopes that she would misfire and they actually got paid off immensely for that. Tracking Kanave when she already claimed vig is weird because she’s either actually the vig (in which case your track was wasted) or she’s scum and would get killed by the real vig. (Or she gets roleblocked and loses her shot, but that’s when you need to evaluate her behavior).
Day 2
This is where I feel like the bulk of the game was played and where the town actually kind of needed to hit a wolf, because misexecuting here would put the town into perpetual mylo.
From the start, I feel like Arctic realized the dire straits the town was in and put in really good effort in solving and actually got most of the solve correct, in that he was pushing NinjaPenguin and Vulgard before posting spurts from both of them got him to back off. He correctly assessed that Flygon was a villager who was incessantly tunneling him all game and he also recognized that Squirrel was a villager due to his meta read. I believe this deserves props - it’s really hard to get in that situation and not wolfread the person who has been actively pushing you throughout the game.
I think the issue with this Day was that only really Arctic was doing this type of solving, and he didn’t really have anyone else besides the wolves to bounce his ideas off of. I could be prescribing how much of how I play to Arctic here since I know he likes to work independently, but I feel like if he had a rock or someone who was invested in solving as he was, then they could have potentially executed a wolf today. Instead, he was kind of pushing people independently while rest of the town was kind of drifting/not doing anything. The wolves were able to take advantage of this – by defending themselves and making Arctic second guess himself into a Magnus/Wazza CFD, who were unfortunately just villagers who were afk as opposed to being wolves.
Also yeah guava just forgetting about his night action also was really tough; if he tracked NinjaPenguin then the game could have potentially been broken wide open
Day 3
The vote from Flygon on Squirrel kind of doomed this day IMO since that meant the wolves would either need to proactively bus NinjaPenguin or convince any one villager to misvote Squirrel - which they were pretty easily able to do judging by Kanave/Wazza’s posts at EoD. Squirrel for the record played this day very well - I feel like almost all players would have instantly crossed Flygon which would have been a town loss instantly, but instead he kept his head cool and actually voted the opportunistic wolf in this instance. Sadly it didn’t mean a whole lot because he would have had to convince every other living townie to actually vote NP in order to even have a chance of a 50/50, but I’d just like to give a shoutout to that. Other than that, town I felt literally just stopped playing this day phase. The people who were posting most of the words were the wolves and the townies who were alive were either low activity or weren’t able to get a cohesive solve or re-evaluate.
Another thing I noticed about this day phase is that no one really tried to evaluate Ashlyn at all despite her activity just massively dropping off that dayphase? It’s like she basically disappeared from most player’s minds that phase – an admirable trait for a wolf to have.
Town MVP: Arctic, he was pretty much the only villager actively solving in D2 and his process did end up leading him to the wolves. He just needed I feel someone to bounce reads off of in order to really make a sustained push that day. HMs to Squirrel for playing D3 like a god and Caspore for eating the N1 kill on her first ever mafia game (also for being the person who was closest to solving the game in dead chat).
Mafia MVP: Vulgard. His strong start D1 despite people knowing that he prefers the wolf alignment surprised me since I feel like people didn’t really take that into account when reading his posts. He basically was able to get on Flygon’s good graces throughout most of the game and was one of the few players who was actively driving and moving the game forward – he was just a wolf while doing so. Excellent work.
This “mistake” was not accounting for the fact that 13ers are designed for the town to have 4 mislunches in total to work with in terms of the game, and adding the one-shot vigilante to the setup means that if the vig misfired, then the game would only have 3 mislunches – effectively turning the game into a 12 player game where Kanave was an IC instead of a vig (and Shending wasn’t even in the game at
Yeah uh
That’s why I was rlly confused when talking to wisp
“how tf is there a one shot vig in tbis setup, I haven’t seen a single other PR claim yet, vig10s are even, and they do that to bring it down to an odd amount of players, wtf”
Yeah, big screwup from me, just a complete oversight when bumping the game up from 12 to 13 players.
Won’t make the mistake again.
Did zone not notice?
This did not come up during review.
Wouldn’t hold his feet to the fire, this is literally 100% my fault for not thinking things through until N1.
vulgard/guava/np and vulgard/guava/ash (i really thought vulgard and guava were w/w)
It’s like.
Guava and NP’s interactions there are just never W/W tbh and when I went over it again I concluded Vulgard was using Guava and their partner is actually NP.
Like Vulgard wanted to make people think it was Guava but what I didn’t realize is Guava wasn’t the only one he did that with, he also did it to Squirrel and I fell for it.
this.
you place almost all town/scum equity in someone based on their read on you,
That wasn’t the reason.
It was your read on Guava and how you handled the slots including Wazza’s.
