I loved TOL because it was the most complicated social deduction game that I’d ever found yeah. Complicated is good because if you learn the mechanics you can bet your ass most other people didn’t bother.
Super easy to learn some slimy nuanced mechanic that gave you an edge.
It’s also the fact that people just didn’t fake-claim certain roles.
You rarely if ever saw an observer fake-claim, because it was impossible to do. So I fake-claimed it.
Rarely if ever saw a mystic fake-claim for the same reason. So why not.
Observer fake-claims back when observers saw visits & watched over the person at the same time - super tense. Scary as hell because you got pushed for logs, posted them and prayed you guessworked the visits based on what people were saying well enough to live. And I did it as an NK - because of course I did. I don’t need teammates.
Reminds me of a really old game as an NK where I was a reaper fake claiming observer and I killed anyone who questioned me and observed them and claimed some random knight claim (who was also suspicious of me) was killing them and then I reaped him too.

I don’t remember. I think I fake-claimed mystic and convinced BD to kill the prince because he wasn’t “responding to what I said in link” and then the prince is like “WTF ARE YOU DOING BD I’M CONFIRMED” and they all voted guilty and it was funny as fuck
I was like “IF I’M WRONG KILL ME” but of course being the possessor I could just jump

Okay so I jumped a mystic and pushed a HUNTER. Everyone wanted me to vote the hunter last, so I vote the hunter second to last, force the prince to vote immediately and then spam “GUILTY I’LL DIE IF I’M WRONG” because I was pushing the hunter as fake
The prince is like “wait no bd wtf I was forced to vote this don’t vote inno inno” and of course they didn’t listen, the prince got shot, the hunter died.
It was absolutely hilarious
Possessor was my least favourite NK to be honest a bit too easy to escape being caught. Sorc was the best because it presented an actual challenge.
I’d be lying if I said I enjoyed reaper in any capacity either to be honest in fact I hate it more than I hate possessor because of how noob-friendly it is I mean you literally win the game at 8 players left because of those 8 players 1 is a dead body (reaped) 1 is chilled and you’re the reaper. You’re probably in an 8p with at least 1 neut who you got to side with you because “omg i’m the nk it’s so ahrd to win!!!” and majority vote is like, 6.
So you basically just win. It’s so dumb. I hate reaper.
Like just claim something that people don’t expect and you win every time because TOL players NK hunting meta was literally “knight = Nk = Die” followed by maids and princesses
