I think we’re kinda cooked here in the US because of the media landscape. So many journalistic institutions have had right wing capture or avoid the appearance of bias so heavily they sanewash someone like Trump and temper what he says to not be as vile or absurd as what he actually says. Based on what independent/undecided voters were saying, they were either genuinely the dumbest mother fuckers on the planet, or getting their information from places that aren’t showing the complete picture. One voter said they were leaning towards Trump because Harris never promised to protect Social Security. She did, repeatedly and clearly. Why didn’t this voter know that if they weren’t lying? Why does a suburban mom in South Carolina or whatever think that human trafficking is such a widespread issue that she’s scared for her children’s safety on the playground. Why does she think Trump, alleged rapist and Epstein’s best friend, will really do anything meaningful to help?
