US Election: Discussion Thread

democrats suck at appealing to rural populations

one class in and no discussion of it thus far

Most people, down to the baristas, are upset.

next professor will probably bring it up. genuinely don’t know what his takes are, but he had the ascended post-debate take of “people tend to vote for the taller candidate, and the cameras were angled to make harris look taller”

he didn’t have a partisan tint to this or anything he just pointed it out as if it was a matter of fact

Interesting site ty

I read arguments biden held blame for not resiging earlier and give more time for democrats to get their shit together and/or people convincing biden that he wasnt senile and that it was right wing propaganda that he was and he believed it so thats why he thought he could run and win again

Also just wondering can trump end democracy in any way shape or form

I wonder how much turkey inflation is at. 400%?

we’ve been asking ourselves this for the last year

Fun

And was there an result/answer thingie to the how?

Definitely possible. The big routes are:

  • Republicans control Congress and can thus push through basically any bill that he wants.
  • The Supreme Court has said that he can use the military to assassinate a political rival if he deems it “necessary for the safety of the nation”.
  • He can replace thousands of government employees by marking them as political appointees, which would cause an “exodus of competence”.

1 is trying to be done here except slightly different i believe

SCOTUS killed Chevron deference so the administrative state was already out the door if we’re being honest with ourselves.

Btw was 2 actually real?

Yes.
