He won in 2022 by 6 points. Kamala barely won it by 4, and probably 2 points was just from Walz being on the ticket if not more. Whitmer won MI by like 10 points is way to the left of the platform Harris ran on. Why did these candidate wins in states that are not majority dem strongholds by comfortable margins if it wasn’t because the policies were popular?
Just popping in to say. This election results sucks. Its horrible to see. I hope things work out well, and no one here or anywhere is impacted by these policies that were thrown around during the election season. Idk much more than give everyone out there my thoughts and hopes, but hopefully somehow we get through this all together. 
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this a sampling bias? Like only people who voted were asked when the issue appears to be that a ton of people stayed home?
Yeah I know, but my point isn’t that the people who stayed home thought this. I’m saying why did so many people in our voting pool see Kamala as this communist, progressive, extreme leftist who wants to overthrow our systems? When the left sees her as a centrist candidate?
I want elections to have real narratives and beliefs. How does society even fix the gap in realities?

Because their entire media ecosystem lies to their face every time. This is why going to the center has always felt so fucking stupid to me. You’re gonna get called a communist anyway. Who gives a shit? They’re so fucking terrified to get called what they get called every time that do shit like run even further to the center and lose because the base doesn’t show up. The base magically shows up though when progressives run in battleground states, but there’s nothing to be learned from that apparently.

I feel like I’m taking fucking crazy pills when I listen to liberals talk about electoral politics. I want to see data that shows going to the center is more effective than be just a solid left of center Democrat is. Members of the progressive caucus I think beat Harris’s margins across the board. Governors to the left of her did as well, and in key battleground states. Like these Democrat strategists come out of the woodwork to be like “support for trans people has gone too far and that cost us the election” and I wanna see the receipts. A trans woman just won a house seat in Delaware. You know who did a point worse in Delaware than McBride? Harris.
The thing is, I think a liberal politician like Pete could have won this election. Although he has progressive ideas as well.
Like Kamala went full on “I am going to be conservative enough to get republicans to vote me” when if she just ran on liberalism I believe she wins. There really is not that much different between the liberal and progressive policy platforms.
