I think it’s even funnier when you consider Chloe was probably being sarcastic

after having thought about it for a while, I’d rather let wolves have the option of making their chat private

although I haven’t ever requested a chat be private (and on my home site it’s standard practice to allow specs in even while the game is ongoing) I think it gives the freedom for people to connect with their wolfmates in a better way.
it’s possible I’m idealizing what wolfchat is typically like, having not randed it in nearly a year at this point, but there have definitely been wolfchats where I got to know people a lot better, and am glad I had that opportunity.
although my knowledge that those chats would be opened didn’t stop me, I could absolutely see it preventing discussion about some topics for some people, and wouldn’t want to take that away from anyone.

and yeah, I see the argument that your wolfmates were ultimately randomly selected people, but in addition to the idea mentioned earlier that you might rand wolf with people you’re comfortable with, you might bond over the camaraderie of wolfing together. especially in a game where people are very invested, wolfing can be a challenging and stressful experience, and it’s natural for people to bond over shared challenges.

i’ll admit not being able to vanity search my name is disappointing, yeah, but it’s not that big a deal most of the time. as for the other point about wolves hiding their strategies… I think it’s fine? you can argue opening them forces wolves to improve, but of course you can make an equally valid argument that closing wolfchats forces villagers to get better at reading without as much meta. I have a feeling my lack of concern about this point is because I’m not as competitive about mafia as many players are, though, so I don’t expect this last point to convince many people.

I’m strongly of the opinion that “wolves release chat but get a 24 hour period to delete posts” is optimal

For special exceptions I see hiding it to be okay

24 hours is operable
I think it’s a good standard though

I think most wolfchats being released immediately unless the scum request that time is probably fair

Because most people don’t end up deleting anything most of the time, from experience

Hi I’m a little late, I’ve had a read through the thread on peoples thoughts

Honestly, I think the way we handle scumchat being released needing Mafia approval first is fine, while yeah I’d prefer being able to see the mafia chat that people were in to gather up my Intel and thought process through the game, I much prefer people being comfortable on the site, no matter if they’re the minority of people

I’ve had times when I hadn’t wanted to release scumchat due to things I said, I still let them be released, but it worried me slightly, I can’t imagine how those who have those fears 10x of mine may feel

I’m not opposed to the idea of having wolf chat revealed, there’s obviously caveats and ways to solve the problems of both sides to allow the other one to be favoured easily such as direct channels for venting if needed that can be deleted post game

It’s about inclusion and comfortability, and if that can be found no matter what, the choice is fine to me

Wallpost of nothing everybody, enjoy it

Separate channel for venting which can be deleted and 24 hours to delete stuff if requested seems fine to me

If anyone is against even this, I’d like to know why because this seems like a pretty good compromise to me
