Doesn’t the sadism stat benefit teams who take longer to match but aren’t eliminated, for the future rounds?

Breaking ties by current-round partial matches is fair, I think: if two teams took the same number of guesses, the one that got closer to matching the most often wins. If they tied, they necessarily took the same amount of time to full-match.

Going back to the previous round for partial-match count, though, does in fact benefit teams who previously did worse. I think in cases of equal partial-matches, it would be more fair to tiebreak by regular previous-round performance - just “how many guesses did they take last round”.
