This class is a third party survivor neut; already off to a bad start huh. But hey, it wouldn’t be here if that was it’s only sin. No, not only does it need to survive, it also needs to make sure its neighborhood contains half or more of all other remaining living players. This actually does help mitigate the fact it’s a survivor… somewhat. Now see… the problem here is that when the Oneiromancer dies, everyone in the neighborhood is strongman killed alongside them, and since the Oneiromancer needed to have half the court inside said neighborhood to win, they were constantly putting people into essentially a ticking time bomb. This led to the game being extremely centered around the Oneiromancer, and the fact the Oneiromancer had no self protection beyond being bulletproof until Night 4 didn’t really help. But you might be asking… what does it have then? Welllllll… It’s also a Jack of all Trades because why the hell not (it can protect, roleblock, redirect and class type cop a player in their neighborhood every night), it has a vote blocker, and… a messenger I guess. These first two abilities afforded it even more control over the game than it already had, and trust the players of the game when they say a survivor basically dominating the game just was not fun.

Why?: Vote thieves along with roles that tamper with the elimination I tend to dislike for the obvious reason that they massively reduce player agency, and by extension a drive to play the game. I think this tendency came from games like ToS/ToL where making a player stew in despair for a few minutes isn’t that bad, but over a 48 hours it’s likely to just kill player morale. Vote thieves are probably the worst for this since they make it very obvious to the player that they have no stake in the days events, meaning that they have no reason to keep playing. Especially if they’re not a tryhard. Also very unbalanced as a wolf role and way too swingy as a town role. Avoid.
