Wrogn 2 - MAFIA VICTORY

So his only scumread is Spooky. Derps agrees. Can we make a wolf team for Spooky that excludes Ash?

Like … Spooky Chomps? Spooky Marluna? Spooky Leafia?

Let me see which of these he townread. If he townread them all Im just not seeing it. If he didnt then maybe thats the team if he’s town

Towny on all

Well Ash if youre town I think youre wrong on one of those. And correct on spooky maf

Imo:

Tutuu
Creature
Zug
Derps

Marluna
Chomps

Spooky
Leafia
Ash

If Ash flips town, Spooky should die next, not Leafia

And if Ash flips Mafia I would personally prefer Leafia before Spooky but Spooky first is fine too

In an F3 with Derps, Marluna, Chomps I would kill Chomps

I kinda forgot about chomps

Soweli Analysis

Interactions with Zugzwang

I want to use this to establish the two key elements of Soweli’s strategy:

  1. Keeping themselves and their teammates out of scrutiny, and as part of that…

  2. Attempting to appease town leaders

We see both of these with this post:

With the context of w!Soweli, this post kinda feels like Soweli is attempting to throw shade on Zugzwang without antagonizing them, appeasing their inquiries without actually taking a stand.

This continued fear of antagonizing Zug, where Soweli is attempting to stay under the radar and avoid OMGUS, is not only unpairing to me, but it demonstrates how Soweli approaches their role as mafia.

Interactions with Tutuu

Appealing to Tutuu with the idea of, “I can be useful.” Combined with:

My guess as to Soweli’s progression is that Tutuu is a town member they were hoping to pocket who ended up becoming a town leader. Thus, we can see Soweli treat this slot similar to Zug’s slot, attempting to appease without fighting.

There’s also this from D2:

Which, in my eyes, serves to further distance Tutuu and Soweli.

Interactions with Creature

This just seems like clear unpairing. Soweli’s approach here is attempting to fuel a fire, the simple approach. And I would argue that said simple approach rears its head with a Derps interaction:

Interactions with Derps

These sound like serious suggestions, especially given the game state in which these were posted. To toot my own horn here, I’d told Derps to just RNG it while Soweli seems to hope that Derps targets someone in the PoE. In this way, Soweli was clearly attempting to influence Derps’ actions in such a way that it would be as non-detrimental to mafia as possible. On that note:

Interactions with Leafia

Given that Ishmael and Brad/Litten have both flipped town, I would wager Leafia is also town, which is why Soweli put her on the list of people Derps could target.

This also tracks with this interaction, where Soweli feels the need to defend herself from Leafia’s lock-in.

Interactions with Marluna

There is maybe an argument for pairing on this slot, namely from these two posts:

However, given the established trend of Soweli attempting to appease town leaders, as well as Marluna being among the most townread players in the game, I’m inclined to view this less as pairing and more as Soweli viewing Marluna as a town leader to be appeased.

Under that lens, Soweli appears to also be trying to get townread by being helpful.

The latter argument is, admittedly, a bit of a stretch, but I would argue that it fits within the context of Soweli’s train of thought.

Interactions with Spooky

This feels pretty pair-y with Spooky, especially in tandem with what I said earlier about Spooky helping guide Soweli through the heavy suspicion (and later, the redcheck). And going back to their own strategy on how they deal with town leaders:

This seems to suggest that Soweli was trying to keep Spooky from sticking out to Tutuu as “a new player”, likely as a means to keep Spooky under the radar.

Interactions with Chomps

Soweli’s treatment of Chomps’ slot is weirdly friendly, and that matches the PoE of being unpaired with everyone else besides Spooky. As such, I want to look into Chomps as being a potential #3.

Summary

Soweli’s approach to mafia is defined by its simplicity: stay under the radar, keep your teammates under the radar, and appease town leaders to avoid being caught. Under this lens, Soweli has distance from every living player in the game, save for Spooky and Chomps. As such, I propose that the mafia team is Soweli-Spooky-Chomps.

mmmmmmmmmmm
has this still held true for you in closed games? because in here, wolves have their kills obscured by doc dodges and other mech issues.
personally, when spectating (as an informed player), I find it much much easier to predict the nightkill in an open setup than in a closed one

IDK much about who was a likely protection target N1, but soweli evidently thought you were (hence the claim of protecting you)
And IIRC I was topposter (maybe barring Chomps? IDRM, but also I think we can remove Chomps from this equation regardless)
which leaves May as the most influential player who’d not be under protection*

*unless there was also a reason to protect May? I was thinking about who to investigate so that wasn’t relevant

How confident are you on this? (Relative to your usual level of confidence in reads, and relative to your scumread on Spooky)

and - how did you write this? Like, can you walk me through your thought process of where* you first got your suspicions on Chomps, and how your opinions changed as you wrote the post (if this happened)

*meaning, like, either how far through the ISO, or what you were writing
