Don’t listen to your thoughts

Breath deeply, inhale your lungs with air very slowly but inhale all in to the best of your capacity

Then hold it for a few seconds

And then begin to slowly exhale deeply

Nobody can hurt you, nobody can do you any harm

You are safe, I promise

Do this until you calm down.

I will be here cheering you on

You’re having a panic attack

But that’s alright, because you can get a grip on it

If you do the breath cycle

Panic attacks are caused by your fight and flight response.

The human brain thinks everything threatens it’s life when feeling excessive fear.

That’s not true.

Your thoughts are different than you. Thoughts are not you, nor your consciousness.

Thoughts are ideas that come and go.

Those that are negative mostly enter the center of attention because of evolution.

It doesn’t know what it’s doing however.

Don’t listen to them, don’t engage with them.

When a thought comes, notice its presence

Then return to your breathing cycles

n-n-nya
its a lot of trauma
day nightmares

How are you feeling, night?

anxious and panicky and scared

Are you able to tell me what is the source of that?

After that I want to help you with one more exercise, one that will help you from the point forward when you’re feeling panic attacks.

Respond when you are able

scared of adults hitting me
its dark
so dark
i can feel her haunting me

Okay now I want you to do the same breathing cycles.

But now, I want you to do something on top of that, alright? It’s foolproof, so don’t get worried you’d get anything wrong.

List 5 things you can see around you. From each corner of the room and one from the middle of the room.

List 4 things you can hear. Pick 2 loud things and 2 quiet things, if there’s not enough sound around, try to softly knock on your school desk, hear your nose breath, maybe crankle a wrapper

List 3 things you can feel. Try to pick three things from different body parts, your hand against the bench, the roof of your mouth with your tongue, a small leaf in your shoe. You should always have at least 3 things within touching distance. You can also interact with your clothes.

List 2 things you can smell. If you don’t think you can smell anything, you can also try to feel the temperature of the air in your nose.

List 1 thing you can taste. Usually the remnants of Food.
