my first semester of college was so fucked because of sleeping through classes. high school I just slept through class inside the class, and I did that in college some too, but addy bailed me the fuck out of this one. and avoiding morning classes like the plague helped me avoid the former.
i was screened for narcolepsy (with and without cataplexy), and got referred to specialist at Shands who literally wrote textbooks on sleep medicine. I thought I was going to have to do another sleep study, but the guy was asked some questions to make sure I wasn’t narcoleptic, and then was like “you probably have some kind of depression, but if you don’t experience a whole lot of darkness, I’m not going to apply that label to you to avoid it causing you problems because it’s stigmatized. let’s just call it idiopathic hypersomnia, get you on stimulants, and worry about what to call it later if it gets worse.”
unironically based af
REAL
I hate woke culture so much. When will sleep culture come back?
Pepper .
Cat
sleep culture is real
They’ve tried to get me medicated for the fuckin
Restless legs syndrome
Unfortunately I still fall asleep in class
Not as often tho
i feel like she would be frens with honey i get a lot of vibes
I keep napping in the afternoon
Trur
I slept through classes in HS p often
this is not due to narcolepsy or anything it’s just because I woke up at 4am to go to rowing practice
and because the classes I slept through were the super easy and therefore boring ones
I don’t know how you guys do it, but I can never sleep in public and I can also barely go unconscious when napping
Nice
the teachers let me do it because they knew I’d still be ~top of the class
it also helps to be a good person and on good terms with them lol
if they know I’m a good kid who’s gonna learn the material and do all the work, most don’t actually care if I nap in-class while they’re working with the students who need more help
I’m sure some teachers would but my school’s teachers were categorically pretty good and focused on what really matters (ie, teaching, not shows of superiority over the kids or other silly things like that)
