when you say >rand you dont think about the number 75 you just think “more likely”. its a trap / difficult otherwise to think about numbers if you take a big number. if u say “i think this person is 60% likely to be mafia” thats more than 50% and you might mean you think they’re more likely than not but it can be confusing if you’re saying on an absolute or relative scale. so to avoid confusion when you say or read “>rand” you think “more likely”

I see rand as a general term for “random chance (of whatever thing we’re talking about)” and not necessarily the chance of specifically somebody being mafia, like for flipping a coin 50% is =rand
