Ice Cream Mafia - Night 1 (13/14)

Oh okay, then can we rely on neil reading you with a high accuracy?

I guess so, though I feel like wolf!me would be able to pocket someone like neil.

I feel like I should mention that usually itā€™s a good day strategy to make someone the top wagon and force them out of the comfort zone. Once they feel town enough, move to someone else and repeat.

However, aorn I donā€™t feel like getting into action.

Interesting, is this the meta on MU? From games Iā€™ve played across multiple sites this resulted in players getting tilted and basically going ā€œnone of you guys can read me, fuck you allā€ and then they give up and then everyone scumreads them for giving up and then they flip town. Well, not always, this is a bit cynical anecdote, but Iā€™ve seen it happen a lot. Not that Iā€™m discouraging it, Iā€™m unfamiliar with forum mafia ā€œmetaā€ these days. Just sharing my experience

I wouldnā€™t be opposed to trying to apply group pressure like that to make people squirm until they town tell, with a reminder that the people pressuring should remind themselves to not go overboard and to be gentle with their words, and for the person being pushed to remind themselves that itā€™s a game and to please not get tilted and give up hope in their teammates and to not take it personally

Oh well, I donā€™t know. I usually like putting one or two wagons on top to force players to take sides. Though maybe we need to be careful to not tunnel/confbias on a player who get nervous when that happens to them.

Otherwise we can just sit out, have a nice cup of tea, talk reads and then we wait until itā€™s like 1 hour to EOD to wagon someone we all feel like (and hope they flip wolf).

Also I feel like my kind of strategy would need at least half of the players to be engaged, but I donā€™t feel like putting a lot of effort this early.

Maybe we can talk about anime, animated shows, TV series while we wait everyone get in?

My experience with w!Zone is that he will act unhinged and chaotic for its own sake, minimally speaking. He will enact this behaviour as town on occasion as well, yet only typically on the later days when heā€™s pushed to the brink and he needs space to ramble externally with himself. All in all, the simplest manner in which to describe the difference is that w!Zone is quickly inspired to contemplate himself, discussing the placements of his thoughts about others through the vessel that is himself; whereas v!Zone skips the middleman and jumps immediately into dissecting tidbits which draw focus towards other players. The exception to this point is his willingness to deliberately return a vote, which is occasionally used as weak disincentive against being voted, which nonetheless Iā€™ve only seen from the latter rather than the former ā€” possibly even to the degree of being indicative although I lack affirmation there.

I donā€™t have an incredible position on Chomps regarding your other vibrant reads, although Iā€™m carefree to help you pursue such an affront for the present meantime until a different station arises.
VOTE: Chomps.

Tutuuā€™s readlists feel earnestly opinionated, yet not intrinsically villager-esque at this current juncture. Itā€™s a tad early for that.

As the co-host of Kakegurui FM, I can confirm this. (If I had to complain about anything regarding that gameā€™s mafia team, then itā€™d be that the mafia team had barely communicated in mafia chatā€¦)

I am not leaving this unknown.

Vampire Masquerade (March 2024, Victory)
Grand Idea (March 2023, Loss)
Helluva Boss (December 2022, Victory)

ā€¦I have not rand Mafia often in the last couple of years, it seems. (Even if I were to add offsite games, it would barely double the amountā€¦)

Something to think about at least, although my gut is telling me that Chomps is a villager.

Me too but he feels just like he did last game honestly, and he was a villager that game. Not too confident on him being a villager this game though but Iā€™m willing to look elsewhere for wolves for the time being.

@tutuu Do me next.

After 235 posts, Iā€™m confident in doing something with zero arguments: Applying my homesiteā€™s logic to read a player. In particular, to read tutuu. Iā€™m just going to townread him.

Thereā€™s a tell in ā€œold NUFā€ (around 2021), and Iā€™m willing to just townread him based on that tell.

Is it a reliable tell? Not at all. Players from my homesite would probably (still) yell at me for using this ā€œtellā€, but in all my years of experience, Iā€™d say it works most of the time.

(Like, it probably wonā€™t work on certain types of players, but tutuu should fall within the norms for this ā€œtellā€.)

((Note: I am not going to explain what this ā€œtellā€ is.))

One of my biggest ā€œfearsā€ is this: Everyone is occasionally online, yet nobody talks.

EU gang do be sleeping right now, but I donā€™t recall Willow (one of ILP heads) living in EU.

(ā€¦for the record, I am also part of EU gang. Consider my sleep schedule to be borked.)

I watched The Dragon Prince up to season three. Apparently it now has seven seasons, and Iā€™ve been meaning to catch up and maybe rewatch the whole thing. Itā€™s been a while.

Iā€™ve been watching Shangri-La Frontier S2 for a while. Itā€™s a decent anime. I also saw ā€œIsekai Red Rangerā€ got an anime adaptation. Iā€™m kind of embarrassed about it, but I have been enjoying the manga, so maybe Iā€™ll give the anime a try.

Never heard of the Dragon Prince anime. Whatā€™s it about?

Iā€™m afraid I canā€™t right now, I didnā€™t get any particular impression and I feel lack of confidence in reading you. I will oblige once I find something :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yeah. Reminder to self, and to others

I would like all of us to get in our votes of 5 for chocolate holders. Like explicitly. I want receipts. Each person saying ā€œI want X Y Z A Bā€. I suggest we make sure we do it every day, and demand people to do it. Because if a wolf wants to push for wolves to get the chocolate mode and be protected from the peek - they need to give us a receipt for it. We can go back and check which people campaigned for that wolf. So we tighten the noose a bit more around the wolves

jail - Golden Freddy. My memory nearly slipped, but after ISO I remember P#85 being interesting. (Because it lead to further conversation with potatocat.) Rest of ISO is unimpressive. NAI. Sheeping general consensusā€™ read of [not paying attention to him for the time being].

childe - Yet to arrive. Null.

Frostwolf103 - He seems proactive in regards to planning future action. (I.e., mass-claiming non-Vanilla votes in case of no kill.) I want to hear more from him, but I guess heā€™s sleeping right now. Current read: Townlean. (Yeahā€¦ I just donā€™t see w!Frost being this proactive. I may be biased because of our private chatter, but I feel like Frost is generally a straightforward person. What do you call itā€¦ a polarized player?

Leafia - Iā€™m wary as heck about P#25. I donā€™t care if she had given townleans left and right to other players; I am paranoid of getting townread. Having said that, nothing that sheā€™d posted ringed any other bells in my head. I donā€™t know if sheā€™s learned how to no longer be polarized, but Iā€™m willing to townlean her.

Marluna - Not enough posts to form any read. I already expressed how the ā€œtownslipā€ of P#24 is NAI to me, and the only other post that piqued my interest was P#194, which made me realize that nothing really prevents us from becoming Strawberry after Neapolitan dies. (Since thereā€™d be no use in staying as Vanilla, and being Chocolate would just lower your vote weight compared to all other Ice Creams.) ((Eh. Maybe I can give her a slight townlean.))

Magnus - Reading his (longer) posts is a pain, but not impossible. (It just takes me longer to translate his words into words that I can actually process in my head.) From what I see, thereā€™s nothing that particularly makes me townread him or scumread him. (At least his presence is bigger than the other nullsā€¦)

potatocat - Town. I forgot the exact details as to why I had her as townread in my mind, but then I checked her ISO and looked at her first post. Yeah, no. That ainā€™t coming from Mafia.

Camilleon15 - Yet to arrive. Null.

Creature - Chill guy. Dunno what his alignment is, but Iā€™m pretty darn sure he ainā€™t dying until at least D4. (Iā€™m townleaning him. I had a bad first impression, but he seems to be chill.)

Hippopablompoyeetus - NAI. Memelord. His first post:

tutuu - Town because of NUF tell.

I_like_posts - Dipped out after a showing their heads for a brief moment. Weird case of throwing arbitrary reads. Bad impression. Scumlean. Currently pressured by three votes. Need to check reaction. (Ugh. Waiting game.)

Chomps - Seems to be playing well. (Which, in itself is worrisome.) Admittedly, Iā€™m probably influenced a lot by potatocatā€™s read (and vote) on Chomps. Looking at his ISO, I canā€™t find anything scummy. If I had to nitpick, then itā€™s just that he is too chill; itā€™s as if he has no fear of death. (I ainā€™t giving him credit for P#17 because (1) potatocat did it first, and (2) the actual sentence makes no sense to me.)

My memory is fuzzy, but IIRC The Dragon Prince was about returning a dragon egg (which was apparently stolenā€¦?) to the dragons.

The worldbuilding is amazing. I especially like the magic system of that world, where humans innovated black magic, which is dependant on the existence of magical creatures.

Uhā€¦ I am fine with this under the condition that we donā€™t have to do this Today. ('Cuz we already did this Today, and I already pinged everyone else, asking whether theyā€™re fine or not with the five you brought up.)

Thatā€™s fine too. Unanimous decision reduces chances of in-fighting and lack of teamwork. I just think that there is benefit in seeing what people push. Maybe for the future we can spend some more time having everyone voice their opinions first, and then discuss, and then finalize it officially
