The funny thing would be Magnus and Bystander both being town judging from this interaction I just saw

I disagree.
Hydras has twice as much chance to make mistakes, so they are easier to read on the long run. (I just hate dealing with them from personal reasons, so I usually just avoid games including hydras.)
