Augustin puts his finger on his cheek.
“Why are spies bad again?”
Augustin puts his finger on his cheek.
“Why are spies bad again?”
These are all awful
“…”
“Um.”
“It has come to my attention by my spy master - that there are spies in your militaries. They go by the name of the gaunt, and if we do not deal with them, we open ourselves up to…losing, yes that’s the right word.”
Alright alright what do we know about this spy guild
if they are in our militaries should we start investigating them? it may effect morale now but it could be better for the long run…
(we know nothing because we are normal nobles. there is nothing special happening.)
“They are likely from the Tavallain place - a neighboring region. My reports indicate they likely have only infiltrated the military and not the nobility.”
“…”
Ophelia… stares down.
“Your… royal highness…”
“Yes, Ophelia?”
“…These are…”
“…”
“Not to question your… advisors…”
“Yes, what about my advisors?”
A worthy sacrifice for the sake of the greater good. Better than prohibition. Better than proselytism. Better than revolution.
(there is exactly one (1) rational thinker on this council)
She lays her head sideways on the table. Her hat still stays on. Somehow. “These options seem to be limited in effectiveness… and high in cost, your highness.”
She’s okay. She’s just tired and bored. Sitting in a chair does that to you. Among other things.
“Do you have any other suggestions?”
“Honestly…I think all the options the council has presented as solutions…aren’t ideal. Spies are trained to know how to deal with these already, they can easily get past simply looking into their belongings.”
(and this is why Litten gets to propose a third option)
“The council is the one who presented these solutions - as the king…I normally don’t make suggestions…but I feel like I might have to.”
(fourth)
Augustin tilts his head in confusion.
“If I may speak, your highness, how would spies infiltrate the nobility? Surely nobody here is secretly from… Tallivain? And all of us know each other.”
