“Yeah, they don’t - at worst, they are bribing the nobility, but that’s…litten almost said to be expected, but stops
Outlandish. Never happens.”

(I don’t have any great ideas either)
(I’m trying to think of one we can all band together on)
(Like expanding the military doesn’t work, it makes it easier for the spies)
(i cant roleplay randomly offering anything cause im too sick to)
(but for pure practically i’d ask around)
One of Augustin’s staff in the background facepalms. She sends a messenger over to get him.
A is taxing to the Spymaster.
B is taxing on the Military.
D is never an option.
I need to see what King Litten can come up with first. If it is better than A and B, then I shall immediately vote that option.
(We could…pretend to offer gold, and fake examples of people being given gold, and have spies fess that way, and then have them arrested and use their intel to root out more spies.)
“…How are the actual solutions somehow worse than doing nothing?”
“I thought this council was composed of the brightest of the nobility, I don’t know either. I’m all for ears on more suggestions.”
“Brightest of the nobility? Us?”
(I’m genuinely trying to find an actual good choice of action but I cannot)
“In my time in the council, I have never once heard of the Gaunt. They are obviously a threat to our nation…”
“But I am simply at a loss as to what to do.”
Angel appears to be visibly distraught but is trying to cover it up.
(i have a few ideas. everything requires money or super high auth though)
(I’m trying to think of a rational solution, give me like ten mins of staring at a wall)
Ophelia lifts her head off the table. “…Your royal highness?”
i think there’s clearly a superior option here
we’ll be fine
VOTE: Option D
“Yes?”
Augustin comes back into the room and reads off of a sheet of parchment he did not have before.
“If I may speak, my lieges, my foreign affairs advisor humbly suggests that remind the populace that spying is considered treason and warrants the death penalty. She also suggests we publicly provide small rewards to anyone whose confessions turn in a genuine spy, much less than the proposed reward in Option A.”
He puts the paper away.
“I believe I may be out of by depth here, my lieges.”
(…nothing brings regions together like war, though…)
