If you put 8 on C5R7, then it has to have a 7 on C4R7 or C4R8. Look at block 2. Where is the 8? In one of the renban lines. More specifically, in column 4. These renban lines are of length 3; where is 7? It can’t be on C4; blocked by the 7 you just put. It can’t be on C5; blocked by the 7 in block 5. Therefore, 8 cannot be put on C5C7.
Well those were indeed the case, since C4R4 can only be 4 or 6, making a 4-5-6 triple along with C1R4 and C9R4. The same goes with C1R6, C6R6, and C9R6.
Ah. This one I didn’t see before.
Thank you for the guidance.
In particular the first hint. I really got stuck after finding the approximate location of 8 in column 5, so I just kept brute-forcing everywhere else.
Finding 1 in column 5 was not brute-force-y for me at all though. It can’t be C5R2 or C5R7 because 2 is already in C4R5. It can’t be in C5R8 or C5R9 because it’s a 3-length renban with a 7 and an 8 in it. So the only place it could go is as a 1-2 pair in C5R1 and C5R2.
I feel like if I’m a life guard and see that, you are on your own pal. Take some responsibility. We can’t keep clean up after people pissing off ocean gods
Well, I started to solving for the renbans before the bulbs, so I knew immediately, which renban is which in column 2, but you are correct, if you do it the other way around, it’s really a reductant information.
