Kamala’s margins in the major NYC Dem districts:
NY05: Kamala +42
NY06: Kamala +6
NY07: Kamala +46
NY08: Kamala +44
NY09: Kamala +40
NY10: Kamala +60
NY12: Kamala +64
NY13: Kamala +60
NY14: Kamala +32
NY15: Kamala +48

(I hope so, but I suspect they will not. Not as a national strategy, anyway. I think the best thing to do is organize, primary establishment/moderate dems out for the more progressive ones that are likely to stand their ground on such issues like Reps Omar and Talib who both easily run reelection despite being members of the progressive caucus, women of color, and some of the loudest supporters of Palestine. Breaking the two party system, and establishing ranked voting of some kind, preferably Borda count but even IRV will do, would allow for meaningful alternatives to exist and ideally more effective coalition building.)

NY06 is plurality asian, but even kathy hochul was +9
ny14 is AOC’s district, it was biden +55

not voting harris due to the biden administration (which she was a part of) supporting Israel’s attacks on its neighbors

just an abysmal performance from harris

does this surprise anybody tho

like when was she ever popular or well-liked

Idk. I think it makes sense that you tell someone who says to your face that they’re going to continue to support the mass killing of people you care about and you’re going to show up and vote for them anyway because the other side might be worse is pissed off.

anyways I’ve been pretty staunchly of the opinion that harris would be unpopular since before she became the democratic nominee so this outcome doesn’t surprise me at all

how one-sided it is is still a bit surprising but the outcome itself isn’t

I am also pissed off and angry at them about it. I am also pissed off and angry about their crumbling support for queer people and particularly trans people like me. I am also pissed off about their lip service regarding protecting abortion for years. You run on abortion, but at the same time there are ballot measures to enshrine the right in the constitution and suddenly they don’t need you anymore. My support for democrats has always been, and will continue to be, begrudging, pragmatic. The moment I have an alternative that I think will actually do things I want instead of promising a compromise they then compromise again on, I’m there. I want that to happen so bad.

Oh for sure. They backed themselves into a corner with her. I still think trying to make anyone else the nominee ran the enormous risk of backfiring tremendously. Their strategy of “just double down on Biden and run like you’re the incumbent instead of a fresh outsider” however just makes me think they were never gonna get it done.

it would be very understandable to be pissed off, and then to vote kamala regardless
like for example chappell being very vocally critical of the dems yet putting out a statement that she’s voting kamala regardless is the understandable thing
it’s the not voting part that’s so ??? to me because it only actively helps trump win the presidency

I know I’m posting a lot and ranting in this thread, but it’s genuinely been cathartic for me. I would be on the verge of exploding if I had nowhere like this to just get it all out lol

yea

also after reflecting a bit on the conversation yesterday about trump being in power during the time biden had banked on not being trump where kamala was already in power

no I agree with you now

Because that’s just not how most people think. You have to give people a reason to show the fuck up other than “orange man bad”. We saw this in the VA gubernatorial race years ago. Youngkin won because his mediocre opponent ran a campaign of “Trump bad and Youngkin was endorsed by Trump”. VA still has a blue house, and still voted blue in the presidential election. You need to energize the base to leave their houses or take time off work.

she needed to distance herself from biden
being his VP makes that difficult
needed to come out with a radical policy to distance herself
even a further right or left policy would’ve worked better

what I will say is she played the election perfectly if she wasn’t in incumbent executive office

I still think that running on a campaign of positive change for people and then delivering on that change, and making sure everyone knows it was you that delivered it, would have been better.

if it were a policy on the left, it’d have had to have been pretty much as strong as medicare
im not sure what she could’ve proposed
