Perhaps instead of a 72 hour cycle, instead 3 players all pick a time (roughly an hour) that they can all be on in a 72 hour period. This means hosts don’t have to be constantly checking and can instead just wait for teams pre-decided times.

I like this idea. It also gives people the ability to announce their availability in the signups itself, thus reducing the number of DNFs that happen in the first place.

The 3 people with the most partial points on eliminated teams are not eliminated, but instead are all put on a team together, and have partial points reset. This keeps happening until 5 players left.

I think we should do it in the first couple of rounds, but after that, teams should become finalized. Partial points should also be adjusted for the length of each team’s round for obvious reasons.

There is… some people who think that players are intentionally choosing bad words for one round to set up a match for another.

I see this as part of the strategy of Word Match. Like, I know I picked “ESPIONAGE” despite knowing that no one would match with it because I felt it more important to keep my team on this shared train of thought. If one of my other teammates went wildly off-track, then we’d have been fairly great trouble. Risk-reward and all that.

Some kind of separate 3rd party to unbiasedly solve word disputes should they come up (Should X & Y word count? Is Z too different of a word for A, B, and C?), who otherwise is uninvolved with the game.

Are the hosts not 3rd party enough? What bias would the hosts have that a 3rd party wouldn’t?

also one more thing but revealing the results as soon as everyone is finished means lots of people will miss the fun tbh - i kinda think hosts should stick to the announced EoD time in future games
there’s also more suspense if more people are around to see the flips

no hard feelings towards the hosts for this tho - i didnt mention it until now

I just think it’s pretty impossible to find a word that relates all 3 most of the time but with 2 words it’s pretty easy to tell when somebody is just choosing 1 word

personally it doesnt even really have to be a problem i just know arctic was complaining a lot about it and some people may not want future setups to have as much of a bearing on the current round.

there are other potential ideas to combat that if necessary , double elim / comeback mechanic is just one

I got flamed a shit ton because I was doing the most queries into why people chose what they did, especially on the later rounds, because I wanted to avoid a situation where people won because of something like this

but i want to say that pretty much every time i just wanted to know why people chose what they chose because the way pandora told me to rule it was if there was not intention to game the system then that’s what mattered, and a lot of people took me questioning their submissions as outright denying them which was ~never the case - I don’t think I ever once denied a submission without asking the other 2 hosts, and every time I either deferred to the majority opinion or what pandora wanted
